First in the season 1974/75 the German Bundesliga and thus German master of men was Borussia Moenchengladbach.
Season overview
Borussia Mönchengladbach won the title this season with scorer Jupp Heynckes, becoming the third time German champion. In addition Gladbach won the UEFA Cup also their first international title. At the end of the season moved success coach Hennes Weisweiler after 11 years of Borussia for FC Barcelona. Defending champions Bayern Munich was able to defend the European title and won again the European Champion Clubs' Cup, but in the Bundesliga they landed only in 10th place - after a 0:6 on the first match day in Offenbach - and coach Udo Lattek was still during the current season dismissed. For the UEFA Cup Hertha BSC ( runner-up ), Hamburger SV ( 4 ) and the 1st FC Cologne ( 5 ) qualified. Third-placed Eintracht Frankfurt won the DFB Cup and therefore took part in the European Cup Winners' Cup. Instead of Eintracht played the Vice Cup winners MSV Duisburg in the UEFA Cup.
With the establishment of the Second Bundesliga, the double-track descent rule changed. Because in addition to the two winners of Groups North and South, the two runners-up playing off a third climber who rose from the season three teams from the Bundesliga from 1, including first VfB Stuttgart.
