1974 Summit Series

The 1974 Summit Series was the second competition after the 1972 Summit Series, where the national teams clashed Canada and the Soviet Union.

Still, the NHL players were excluded from the Olympic Games due to their lack of amateur status. The Soviet players were amateurs by definition, since almost all belonged to the Red Army. However, they had to perform any military duties.

This time, the Canadian team was represented by players in the World Hockey Association and there is no NHL players were used. This meant that the Soviet team won the tournament with four wins, three draws and one defeat.

The competition was as previously described in the Summit Series 1972 on eight games, including four in Canada and four in the Soviet Union. In the final statement of the USSR, the series decided in his favor.
