1994 European Men's Handball Championship

The first European Handball Championship for men was held in Portugal from 3 to 12 June 1994. Twelve teams were qualified for the final round. Sweden won the tournament by a 34:21 against Russia in the final. Third place went to the team of Croatia, located in the third-place match won against Denmark with 24:23. The German team ended at the end of the ninth, Austria and Switzerland did not qualify for the finals.

Preliminary round

In the preliminary round, the twelve qualified teams played in two groups of six teams. Within a group, each team met once against any other team. The top two teams in each group qualified for the semi-finals.

Group B

All matches in Group B were held in Porto.

Next to the current best two teams of each group contested the semi-finals, contributed from other teams in the classification matches. In each case, the equal -placed teams of the two groups played against each other.
