2003 FIFA World Youth Championship

The 14th FIFA World Cup ( officially: FIFA World Youth Championship UAE 2003) was held in the United Arab Emirates from 27 November to 19 December 2003. 24 teams, including the defending champion Argentina, as well as Germany, participated in the tournament.

Brazil won the final against Spain 1-0 and was able to secure the fourth world title and thus catch up with world champion Argentina again in the number of titles. Scorer with four goals, the U.S. striker Eddie Johnson, the Golden Ball as the best player of the tournament was the striker Ismail Matar from the United Arab Emirates.

Germany retired with only one victory over the U.S. as the bottom of Group F from after the first round. The junior teams from Austria and Switzerland could not qualify for the finals of the World Cup.
