Participant

With the Ice Tigers Nové Zámky the first time a team from Slovakia was accepted into the league. The team from Nové Zámky was in previous years, cooperation partners for the Budapest Stars.

The leaders of the Hungarian club Sapa Fehérvár AV19 decided their farm team, that their second team, because of their commitments in the Erste Bank Young Stars League no longer be reported in MOL League. Since the status of the hockey Rangers Steaua Bucharest was uncertain due to political movements in Romania, participation was canceled because it could not be guaranteed that the club would play through the entire season.

Other candidates for participation were HK 38 Dubnica from Slovakia and the HK Partizan Belgrade from Serbia. The Belgrade had to solve problems in the rest of the club that did not allow adequate preparation for the season, while the Slovaks did not receive necessary approval to participate from the Slovak Ice Hockey Federation.
