2012 European Championship (darts)

The European Darts Championship is the highest prize dart tournament in continental Europe and was discharged in its fifth edition from 20 to 23 September 2012. The event was held for the first time the RWE -Sporthalle in Mülheim an der Ruhr.

Titleholder of the four years earlier was the English world champion Phil Taylor, but lost in the quarterfinals against Brendan Dolan this year.

New Title carrier was the Australian Simon Whitlock, who in the final prevailed with 11:5 against Wes Newton.

On German television, the European Darts Championship 2012 was broadcast live on Sport 1. The pay- TV channel Sport 1 showed the game live days and complete.

Prizes

A total of £ 200,000 was paid out in prize money.

Qualification

For the European Darts Championship 2012, the following players were qualified:

  • The 16 top-ranked players in the Order of Merit, the first of which were set 8
  • The eight top-ranked players in the Players Championship Order of Merit, which were not already eligible on the Order of Merit
  • The eight top-ranked players in the European Order of Merit, which had not already qualified via one of the two aforementioned rankings
