2012 FIFA Futsal World Cup

The seventh FIFA Futsal World Championship 2012 was held in Thailand from November 1 to 18. For the first time, 24 teams took part in the futsal tournament. The meetings were held in a hall in Bangkok and Nakhon Ratchasima in two halls. Defending champions Brazil won by a 3-2 win after extra time against Spain its fifth title.

Hosts and venues

Thailand was awarded the contract on 19 March 2010, interest in an alignment had also expressed Iran too. According to Hong Kong in 1992 and Taiwan 2004 Futsal World Cup will be held for the third time in Asia. The games take place in the capital Bangkok and in a hall in Nakhon Ratchasima in two halls.

The fourth venue the 2012 newly built Bangkok Futsal Arena was originally provided. However, delays and defects during the construction phase, caused by heavy rains, but the criteria and security requirements of FIFA could not be fulfilled, so that the planned games of the pre- final and final round were moved to the other two arenas of Bangkok.

Participant

The field was increased from 20 to 24 teams. Thailand hosts qualified automatically.

While Germany and Austria had not registered with UEFA for the qualifiers, Switzerland failed in the first round, which was held in the period 20 to 23 October 2011 in Veles (Macedonia), as a group Last of Macedonia ( 2:10 ), France ( 0:7 ) and Montenegro ( 0:9 ).

The draw for the groups took place on 24 August 2012 in the Thai capital Bangkok held at the St. Regis Hotel.

Awards

The Golden Ball for the Most Valuable Player of the tournament went to the Brazilian Neto. The Silver Ball received the Spaniards Kike and the Bronze Ball the Portuguese Ricardinho. The Golden Boot for the top scorer received the Russian Eder Lima ahead of the Italian Rodolfo Fortino and Brazilian Fernandinho. The Golden Glove went to the Italian Stefano Mammarella. The Fair Play Award was the team from Argentina.

Referee

When Futsal two come to the referee Futsal rules trained to use. These have the full authority to enforce the rules of the game in the game. In the games of the World Cup also came a reserve assistant referee is used, which supported the two arbitrators especially during substitutions.
