2013 BWF World Championships
The Badminton World Championship 2013 was held from August 11, 2013 in Guangzhou, China, on 5. China after 1987 was the second time host of the World Cup. It was the 20th anniversary of Badminton World Championship of the World Federation BWF. The BWF awarded prior to the current Olympic champion and world champion Lin Dan, who lodged a break from competition after the 2012 Summer Olympics for the Asian Championships in 2013, a wild card. From the German side, Juliane Schenk abandoned after quarrels with the national federation to participate. Also the eligible Olga Conon and Josche Zurwonne had to cancel their participation in the short term.
Award of the event
The awarding of the event took place on December 9, 2011 in Queenstown, New Zealand. Copenhagen had just as advertised both Macau to host the World Cup in 2013 as well as to host the Badminton World Cup 2014. In 2013 was chosen by the World Association of Guangzhou, which had applied only for 2013. For 2014, Copenhagen was awarded the contract.
