  • Demetrius I Poliorketes, formerly king of Macedonia, dies in captivity Seleucid. Demetrius ' son, Antigonus II Gonatas continues the tradition of Antigonid but needs his father, since Macedonia is occupied by Lysimachus, bury in Thessaly Demetria.

Western Mediterranean

  • In the vicinity of Hadrian, the Romans built the colony of Castrum Novum (now Giulianova ).
  • Publius Cornelius Dolabella is a Roman consul.
  • 283/282 BC: The Romans defeat the Etruscans and the Gauls ( senones and Boii ) in the Battle of the Vadimonischen lake. They occupy then the senonische area and establish the colony of Sena Gallica.
