36th Berlin International Film Festival

The International Film Festival Berlin 1986 took place until February 25, 1986 by February 14.

The Berlinale this year had a brilliant start at the starting out of competition opening film Ginger and Fred Federico Fellini. The couple Amelia ( Giulietta Masina ) and Pippo ( Marcello Mastroianni ) brought in memories of Ginger Rogers and Fred Astaire, the Berlinale peppy at the start.

One of the highlights of the festival took place this year in the "International Forum of New Cinema " instead. Claude Lanzmann presented here before its over nine - hour documentary Shoah.

For the first time which was awarded the "Berlinale Camera" at this festival. One of the first prize winner was Fred Zinnemann, where the festival is also dedicated a retrospective.

International Jury

Jury president of the international jury this year was the Italian actress Gina Lollobrigida. She got the following jury: Lindsay Anderson ( UK ), August Coppola (USA), Rudi Fehr (USA ), Werner Grassmann ( Germany ), Otar Iosseliani (USSR ), Norbert Kückelmann ( Germany ), Francoise Maupin (France), Rosaura Revueltas (Mexico), Jerzy Toeplitz (Poland), Naoki Togawa (Japan).

Award winners

At the award ceremony took place in this year an uproar. Jury president Gina Lollobrigida did not agree with the decision of the jury for the winning film and made it public. For the first time in the history of the Berlinale transgressed a member of the jury, the rule of silence.

  • Georgi Shengelaya ( best director )
  • Charlotte Valandrey in Red Kisses and Marcelia Cartaxo in Sternstunde ( best actress )
  • Tuncel Kurtiz in The Smile of the Lamb ( Best Actor )
  • Caravaggio ( outstanding individual performance for the visual design )
  • Gonza, the Lancer ( special artistic performance for its harmonious composition )

Children's Film Festival

For the first time a jury was formed for the Children's Film Festival, which consisted only of children. This has been fixed in subsequent years, part of the Berlinale.
