Called Autostrada A3 (Romanian for, motorway A3 ' ), also Autostrada Transilvania (Romanian for, Transylvania Motorway '), is a future 588 km long highway on the route Bucharest - Ploiesti - Brasov ( Kronstadt) - Fagaras ( Fagaras ) - Sighisoara ( Sighisoara ) - Târgu Mureş ( Tirgu Mures ) - Cluj- Napoca ( Cluj ) - Zalău ( Zillemarkt ) - Oradea ( Oradea ) - Borş by Transylvania leads to the Hungarian border and is connected to the Hungarian motorway M4. You will also receive connection to the future Terminal 2 of the airport Otopeni.

Sections in Transylvania
For the 415 km long motorway section Brasov - Oradea ( Borş ) of Works in 2004 was directly awarded by the Romanian government to the U.S. company Bechtel, without having previously made a bid. The construction costs were set at 2.2 billion euros, with completion at the end of 2012. The first 42 km long section of Cluj- Napoca ( Gilău ) to Turda ( Thornburg ) was opened on 1 December 2009. On 13 November 2010, the ten kilometer long extension of Turda after Câmpia Turzii was opened to traffic. The Section 2B of the highway is now complete. In early 2010, the work was almost completely set; noisy construction company more than 200 million euros have not been paid by the Romanian state. On 30 May 2013, the Romanian government has the construction contract with Bechtel dissolved completely. But they had the U.S. company paid compensation in the amount of about 37 million euros and pay their debts worth 50 million euros. According to the Prime Minister Victor Ponta there so no more commitments and future plans for the completion of the sections could be made. It is planned to implement the sections of awarding concessions or public- private partnerships to various construction companies.
Section Bucharest - Brasov
Bucharest - Ploiesti
The planned completion of the section Bucharest - Ploiesti was expected in December 2011. According to the statement of the then Prime Minister Emil Boc early November 2011, this leg should be taken no later than spring 2012. However, this section was opened after a long delay until 19 July 2012.
Azuga - Brasov
The distance from Azuga to Braşov will lead along the villages of Sinaia, Buşteni, Predeal and Rasnov.
The tender should be prepared in 2012. In February 2013 a new call was launched. The section is now built into the framework of a concession. The contract should be signed before October 2013 so that construction could begin a month later. However, the deadline was extended until the submission of tenders until December 9. On 19 December it was decided to award. The contract was awarded by the consortium consisting of the construction company Vinci, Strabag and actuator. The concession period will be 30 years. Construction is scheduled to take place in April 2014, with completion between 2016/2017.
