Abitibi-Témiscamingue

Abitibi- Témiscamingue is an administrative region (French région administrative ) in the western Canadian province of Quebec.

It is further classified into four regional county municipalities ( municipalites Clarisse de comté ) and 79 municipalities, Reserves, and unincorporated areas divided. Seat of administration is Rouyn -Noranda.

The population is 146 419 (2011), the land area of ​​57,339.2 km ², which corresponds to a population density of 2.6 inhabitants per km ². 97.7 % of residents speak French and 2.1% English as the main language.

In the West, Abitibi- Témiscamingue borders the province of Ontario, on the south by the Outaouais region, to the east by Mauricie. To the north lies the North -du -Québec, which here is the boundary along the 49th parallel.
