Abraham Oyanedel

Abraham Oyanedel Urrutia ( born May 25, 1874 in Liceo de Copiapo in Puerto Montt, † January 28, 1954 ) was a Chilean politician. He served on an interim basis in 1932 as President of his country.

Life

Oyanedel studied after school law at the Universidad de Chile in Santiago, Chile, in 1897 he left the bar exam in order to work as a prosecutor. He had already participated in 1891 as a soldier in the uprising against President José Manuel Balmaceda.

In 1927 he was appointed to the Supreme Court of Chile, whose chairman in 1932. In that capacity, he General Bartolomeo Blanche Espejo handed on 2 October 1932, the Office of the Vice President, before he himself resigned. Thus Abraham Oyanedel was acting president of Chile. The most significant fact during his brief presidency was, on October 30, 1932 to hold presidential elections and handed over office on December 24, 1932 Arturo Alessandri Palma the victorious.

About his life after the official handover to Alessandri remarkably little is known.
