Aiglsbach

Aiglsbach is a municipality in the district of Kelheim, Lower Bavaria, and a member of the administrative community Main Castle.

History

The place was first mentioned in 864. Other nominations followed as Agelspach (approx. 1145 ), Ailgilspach ( about 1190 ) and Egilspach ( 1160 ). The name is probably derived from a proper name Agil, Egil, Aigil or Eigil from, adds to the Old High German word for " river ", pah (also bah, pach ). Aiglsbach belonged to Rentamt Munich and the court Main castle of the Electorate of Bavaria. In the course of administrative reform in the Kingdom of Bavaria was born with the congregation of 1818, the current community. The official spelling of the borough's name was changed in 1911 from " Aigelsbach " to " Aiglsbach ".
