Ainvelle, Haute-Saône

Ainvelle is a commune in Haute -Saône in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

Ainvelle situated at an altitude of 275 m above sea level, 10 km west-northwest of Luxeuil -les- Bains and about 26 km north- northeast of the town of Vesoul (air line). The village is located in the northern part of the department, on the plateau between the lowlands of the south and Lanterne Semouse in the north.

The area of ​​6.75 km ² municipal area comprises a section in the rolling countryside of the north of the valley of the Lanterne. The northwestern boundary runs partially along the Semouse that it flows through Alluvialniederung southwest to Lanterne. The valley is on average 230 m and has a width of about two kilometers wide. It is used partly agricultural, partly it is passed with riparian forest. Below Ainvelle flows from the east the Combeauté.

From the river, the municipality's area extends southeastward across the floodplain and an approximately 40 m high ground level on the adjacent plateau of Ainvelle. It consists of an alternation of sandy- marly and calcareous sediments that were deposited during the Lias ( Lower Jurassic ). The plateau is divided by several valleys which open out to Semouse. On the hill Derrière les Maisons north of the village is the highest elevation of Ainvelle is achieved with 298 m. The eastern boundary runs in the Bois de Varenne.

Neighboring communities of Ainvelle are Saint-Loup- sur- Semouse in the north, Francalmont in the east, the south and Briaucourt Plainemont and La Pisseure in the West.

History

The territory of Ainvelle was inhabited in prehistoric times. It remains of a Gallo-Roman estate and a burial ground from the Merovingian period were found on the hallway Champ -Leclerc. As early as the 9th century, the Church of Ainvelle is mentioned, which was under the protection of the monastery of Luxeuil. In the Middle Ages the village belonged to the Free County of Burgundy and in the territory of the Bailliage d' amont. The local government has held the noble family of Ainvelle, whose existence is attested since 1208. Together with the Franche -Comté reached the place with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678 definitively to France. Today Ainvelle is a member of the 12 localities comprehensive community association Communauté de communes du Val de Semouse.

Attractions

The village church of Ainvelle has a choir in the flamboyant Gothic style, the 18th century a newly built ship and facade and tower of the 19th century. It houses a wooden statue of Christ (16th century), a baptismal font and a ciborium from the 17th century, and an altar from the 18th century. Next to the church is a manor house with two turrets (early 18th century). Also worth seeing are the Maison Chalot, whose oldest parts date back to the Renaissance, and the Notre- Dame de la Grotte. Ainvelle is the site of an archaeological museum.

Population

With 156 inhabitants (1 January 2011 ) is Ainvelle to the small towns in the Haute- Saône. After the population had decreased significantly in the first half of the 20th century (1886 301 persons were still counted ), a population growth was recorded from 1975 to 2000 again. Since then is again observed a declining trend.

Economy and infrastructure

Ainvelle was until well into the 20th century a predominantly by agriculture (crops, orchards and livestock ) and forestry embossed village. Today, there are some establishments of local small businesses, including a sawmill. In recent decades the village has been transformed into a residential community. Many workers are therefore commuters who engage in the larger towns in the vicinity of their work.

The village is situated away from the larger passage axes near a secondary road that leads from Vesoul to Saint -Loup- sur- Semouse. Further road links exist with Briaucourt, Francalmont and La Pisseure.
