Akmola Province
The area Aqmola ( Kazakh Ақмола облысы / Aqmola oblyssy, Russian Акмолинская область / Akmolinskaja oblast ) is one of 14 areas, is divided into Kazakhstan and is located in the center of the country. Limited is the administrative regions of northern Kazakhstan to the north, the east Pavlodar, Karaganda in the south and Qostanai in the West.
Predominantly agricultural activity in this region. These include the growing of wheat and rye. The landscape is hilly and steppe.
History
Having had passed various administrative units since the 19th century on the territory of the Russian Empire, after its center Akmolinsk ( Kazakh Aqmola, the current capital of Kazakhstan Astana ) were named, was born on 14 October 1939, the Oblast Akmolinsk the Kazakh SSR of the Soviet Union as a direct ancestor of today's area. After short-term resolution of the Oblast as a separate area on December 26, 1960, it was established as a new Zelinograd Oblast on 24 April 1961. Your administrative center Akmolinsk had recently been named Zelinograd.
After the independence of Kazakhstan, the city Zelinograd 1992 got back its old name in Kazakh form Aqmola, and accordingly also the administrative area.
