Aleksandr Berkutov

Alexander Nikolayevich Berkutow (Russian Александр Николаевич Беркутов; * May 21, 1933; † on or before November 7, 2012) was a rower from the Soviet Union. He won two Olympic medals.

In the Soviet Cup in 1954 the starting for Dynamo Moscow Berkutow won the championship title in the One. The following year, Yuri Tjukalow won ahead Berkutow and the young Vyacheslav Ivanov. After Ivanov 1956 Soviet champion, Tjukalow and Berkutow dodged in the double sculls. They were European champions in 1956 and won at the Olympic Games in Melbourne in 1956.

Berkutow and Tjukalow were 1957-1959 European Champion, which they won in 1959 before the Czechoslovak boat with Václav Kozák and Pavel Schmidt. At the Olympic Games in 1960, the Russians were subject to Kozák and Schmidt. 1961 at the European Championships then regained Berkutow and Tjukalow, the Czechoslovaks were third.

After his career Berkutow was rowing coach.
