Alexander Vasilyevich Tkachyov

Alexander Vasilyevich Tkachev (Russian: Александр Васильевич Ткачёв; * November 4, 1957 in Semiluki ) is a former Soviet gymnast. He was two -time Olympic champion in 1980.

He took the 1980 Summer Olympics in Moscow for the Soviet Union in part. With the Soviet team, he was able to win the team all-around. In the individual competitions he won gold on uneven bars and a silver medal on the rings. In the individual all-around and he was fourth on pommel horse he came in at number 5

Tkachev won a total of nine medals at World Gymnastics Championships. He was twice world champion in team all-around and once in the bars.

In 1977, Tkachev on a new item on the horizontal bar, which was later named " Tkatchev ". It was one of the most popular and most impressive elements, which is often performed at international competitions.

Tkachev was inducted into the International Gymnastics Hall of Fame in 2011.
