Allen Henry Vigneron

Allen Henry Vigneron ( born October 21, 1948 in Mount Clemens, Michigan, United States) is Archbishop of Detroit.

Life

Allen Vigneron attended primary school in the parish of Immaculate Conception in Anchor Ville. He graduated from the High School Program of the Sacred Heart Seminary in Detroit 's. Vigneron then attended college. In June 1970, he graduated in philosophy and classical languages. Then he was sent to Rome. There, Allen Vigneron studied at the Pontifical Gregorian University. During this time he lived at the Pontifical North American College. He obtained in 1973 a Bachelor of Theology. 1974 Vigneron returned after ordination as a deacon in his home diocese back and was in the parish of St. Clement of Rome in Romeo active. On 26 July 1975 he received through the Detroit Archbishop John Francis Cardinal Dearden, the sacrament of Holy Orders.

Was then appointed Allen Vigneron as a priest in the parish of Our Lady Queen of Peace in Harper Woods. In 1976 he returned to Rome for further studies. Allen Vigneron received his doctorate with a dissertation on the German philosopher Edmund Husserl Doctor of Philosophy in May 1987. He taught philosophy and Catholic theology at Sacred Heart Seminary College in Detroit. In January 1988, Vigneron rain this seminary. 1991 Allen Vigneron returned again to Rome, where he worked as an Officer in the Section for General Affairs of the Vatican Secretariat of State. During this time he was also a lecturer at the Pontifical Gregorian University.

On 12 June 1996 by Pope John Paul II appointed Titular Bishop of Sault Sainte Marie, Michigan and appointed him auxiliary bishop in Detroit. He received his episcopal consecration on 9 July 1996 Adam Joseph Cardinal Maida; Co-consecrators were the Archbishop of Washington, Cardinal James Aloysius Hickey, and Edmund Casimir Cardinal Szoka. At the time when Bishop Allen Vigneron was responsible for the pastoral care of the Archdiocese of Detroit Region 2.

On January 10, 2003, Pope John Paul II appointed Coadjutor Bishop of Oakland. The inauguration took place on 26 February 2003. On 1 October 2003 Vigneron was finally after age-related resignation John Stephen Cummins ' his successor as Bishop of Oakland.

In the U.S. Bishops' Conference Vigneron leads the Committee on American colleges and the Committee on Doctrine of the Faith and the Subcommittee on the Catechism. He is also a Trustee of the National Catholic Bioethics Center and the Catholic University of America.
