Amancy

Amancy is a commune in the French department of Haute- Savoie department in the Rhône-Alpes region.

Geography

Amancy is on 466 m above sea level. M., east of La Roche- sur -Foron, about 20 km southeast of the city of Geneva (air line). The village is located on the southwestern edge of the wide valley of the Arve, below La Roche- sur -Foron, in the Pays Rochois at the northern foot of the Alps - Bornes.

The area of ​​8.62 km ² municipal area includes a portion of the lower Arvetals. The northern part of the municipal area is occupied by the plain of the Arve. Several streams, including the Foron and Sion, the area draining to the Arve. To the south of the municipality of soil extends over a relatively gently sloping hillside to the edge of the terrain terrace of Saint -Sixt. Here is 624 m above sea level. Neighboring communities of Amancy are Arenthon in the north, Saint- Pierre-en -Faucigny in the east, Saint- Laurent, Saint -Sixt and La Roche- sur -Foron in the south and Cornier in the West.

History

Amancy is first mentioned in the 15th century.

Attractions

The village church of Amancy was built in the Gothic Revival style. Of the secular buildings the Château Delavenay (16th century) are to be mentioned in Vozerier and the Château de Carroz from the 17th century.

Population

With 2149 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) Amancy one of the smaller towns in the Haute-Savoie region. Since the early 1960s, a striking population growth was recorded. To the village and the former hamlet of numerous single-family homes were built.

Economy and infrastructure

Amancy was until well into the 20th century a predominantly coined by farming village. Today there are various companies of small and medium enterprises.
