Arenthon

Arenthon is a commune in the French department of Haute- Savoie department in the Rhône-Alpes region.

Geography

Arenthon is located on 439 m above sea level. M., north of La Roche- sur -Foron, about 18 km southeast of the city of Geneva (air line). The village is in the midst of the broad valley of the Arve, west of the ridge of Faucigny.

The area of ​​11.47 km ² municipal area includes a portion of the lower Arvetals. The northeastern border runs partly along the Arve, and partly also on the right side of the river as it flows at the outlet of the Savoy Alps by a broad gravel bed. Large parts of the river are designed to naturally close to nature with characteristic riparian vegetation. From the Arve, the municipality's area extends westward into the wide, gently sloping valley. In the near Châtelet is 481 m above sea level. M. reached the highest elevation of Arenthon. Attractions

The church of Saint - Théodule is of medieval origin. The choir and the bell tower were built in the 15th and 16th century, while the nave was given its present shape at conversions in the 18th century. The Château de Sonnaz dates from the 17th century.

Population

With 1530 inhabitants ( 1 January 2011) Arenthon one of the smaller towns in the Haute-Savoie region. Since the mid- 1970s, a significant population growth was recorded. To the village and the former hamlet of numerous single-family homes were built.

Economy and infrastructure
