Ancoraimes Municipality

The municipality Ancoraimes is a district in the department of La Paz in the South American Andes State of Bolivia.

Location in near space

The municipality Ancoraimes is one of two Municipalities of the province Omasuyos and located in the western part of the province. It is bordered to the west by the province of Heliodorus Camacho, on the south by Lake Titicaca, on the east by the municipality of Achacachi, in the north- east by the province Larecaja, and to the north by the province Muñecas.

The municipality has 94 localities ( Localidades ), the central location of the municipality is Ancoraimes with 561 inhabitants in the south-western part of the county.

Geography

The municipality Ancoraimes located on the Bolivian Altiplano on the eastern shore of Lake Titicaca at an average altitude of 3900 m, between the Andes mountain ranges of the Cordillera Occidental and the Cordillera Central in the west to the east.

The mean average temperature of the municipality is located at 9 ° C (see climate chart Batallas ), the annual precipitation is about 600 mm. The region has a pronounced diurnal climate, the monthly average temperatures vary only slightly between 6 ° C in July and 10 ° C in December, the monthly rainfall range from less than 10 mm in the months of June and July and about 100 mm from December to February.

The municipality had at the last census of 2001, a population density of 47 inhabitants / km ², the life expectancy of newborns was 60.6 years, the infant mortality rate was 11.4 per cent ( 1992) declined to 7.1 percent in 2001.

The literacy rate for those over 19 years is 65.3 percent, and 84.8 percent, although in men and 48.1 percent for women ( 2001).

50.0 percent of the population speak Spanish, 98.5 percent speak Aymara, Quechua and 0.1 percent. (2001)

79.6 percent of the population have no access to electricity, 88.8 percent have no sanitary facilities ( 2001).

54.5 percent of the 4,580 households owned a radio, a television 6.0 percent, 33.8 percent, a bicycle, a motorcycle 0.8 percent, 0.7 percent own a car, 0.2 percent a refrigerator, 0.3 percent a telephone. (2001)
