Andreas Holmqvist

By Robert Andreas Holmqvist Pedersen (born 23 July 1981 in Stockholm ) is a Swedish professional ice hockey player who is since 2012 at the Cologne Sharks of the German ice hockey league under contract.

Career

Andreas Holmqvist began his career as a hockey player in his hometown in the youth of Hammarby IF, for the first team he was in the HockeyAllsvenskan, the Swedish second division, active from 2000 to 2002. During this period, he was selected in the NHL Entry Draft in 2001 in the second round than a total of 61 players from the Tampa Bay Lightning, for which he, however, never played. Instead, the defender moved to the 2002/03 season for Linköpings HC, for a total of 53 games, he scored 13 points scorer in his rookie year in the Elitserien. He then played two years in North America for the Hamilton Bulldogs and Springfield Falcons in the American Hockey League and the Pensacola Ice Pilots of the ECHL in.

In summer 2005, Holmqvist returned to Linköpings HC back in the Elitserien, with whom he defeated in the 2006/07 season in the final matches in the best- of-seven series with 2:4 victories MODO Hockey Örnsköldsvik. He then signed with their league rivals Frölunda HC, in which he also began the 2008/09 season, before he was after only seven games obliged Djurgårdens IF. After the descent with the club in the season 2011/2012 Holmqvist signed a one-year contract with the Cologne Sharks was extended for two more seasons in December 2012.

Internationally

For Sweden Holmqvist took part in the U20 World Youth Championship in 2001 and the Men's World Cup 2006.
