Anthony Soter Fernandez

Anthony Soter Fernandez ( born April 22, 1932 in Sungai Patani ) is retired Archbishop of Kuala Lumpur.

Life

Anthony Soter Fernandez received on 10 December 1966, and was ordained priest incardinated in the Clergy of the Diocese of Penang. Paul VI. appointed him on 29 September 1977 Bishop of Penang.

He received his episcopal consecration of the Archbishop of Singapore, Gregory Yong Sooi Ngean, on 17 February of the next year; Anthony Lee Kok Hin were co-consecrators, Bishop of Miri, and James Chan Soon Cheong, Bishop of Malacca- Johor.

Pope John Paul II appointed him on July 2, 1983 Archbishop of Kuala Lumpur. From his office he resigned on 24 May 2003.
