Anton Josipović

Anton Josipovic ( born October 22, 1961 in Banja Luka, Republika Bosnia, Yugoslavia ) is a former Yugoslavian boxer Croatian nationality.

Amateur

In 1982 he became the first Yugoslav champion in the middleweight ( 75kg - ), however, came at the World Championships after beating Hans Gottmann, Germany (5-0 ), due to an injury does not have the knockout stages of addition. In 1983 he was master of the Balkans in the light heavyweight ( 81kg - ). At the 1984 Olympics in Los Angeles, he became Olympic champion. He suggested, inter alia, the Germans Markus Bott, Germany (4:1), and Mustapha Moussa, Algeria (5-0 ). As in the other semi-final pairing of the top favorite Evander Holyfield was controversial disqualification against Kevin Barry by the Yugoslav referee Gligorije Novičić due to a KO punch after the bell and Barry therefore no longer allowed to compete in the finale, a fight he won gold.

Professional

1990 Josipovic was professional. The best-known opponent of his career was only ten fights ending the American Matthew Saad Muhammad, whom he defeated on points over eight rounds in May 1991. After more than 2.5 years of lull he lost in 1994 and 1995 two matches against Asmir Vojnović to the Croatian champion cruiserweight title and then finished his career.
