Arrondissement of Thiers
The Thiers Arrondissement is an administrative district in the Puy -de- Dôme in the Auvergne region of France.
History
On 4 March 1790, founded with the establishment of the department of Puy -de- Dôme, a " district Thiers ", which coincided essentially with the present arrondissement. From the district was the district Thiers with the founding of the arrondissement on February 17, 1800.
From September 10 1926 to June 1, 1942, the arrondissement Ambert was dissolved, the area belonged at that time to the Arrondissement of Thiers.

Geography
The district is bordered to the north by the Vichy Arrondissement in the department of Allier, on the east by the arrondissements Roanne and Montbrison in the Loire department ( Rhone- Alpes), to the south by the district Ambert and to the west by the arrondissements Issoire and Clermont- Ferrand.
