AS Béziers Hérault (football)

The Association Sportive de Béziers Hérault (abbreviated AS Béziers ) is a rugby union club based in the French town of Béziers in the Hérault. He plays in the second highest league French Pro D2. The home games are played at the Stade de la Méditerranée. The club won the French league title eleven times so far. A certain importance had formerly also the football department.

History

The club was founded in 1911 when the Sporting Club Biterrois and the Midi Athletic Club merged and it was the Association Sportive Biterroise ( ASB). Football Division

The football department was formed in October 1911 initially as an independent association with the name Stade Béziers sport. 1918 after a merger from Stade Olympien Biterrois. After four more clubs joined in 1935, was renamed to Entente Sportive Biterroise. The club dissolved in 1939, and the football players were henceforth a division of ASB (then AS Biterroise ).
