Atromitos F.C.

The PAE Atromitos Athens (Greek Ατρόμητος ) is a Greek football club based in Peristeri, which was founded in 1923. Since 2009, the club plays in the first Greek league.

History

The association was created in 1923 when some students from Athens decided to form a football team. In the same year could get the former famous football player Vangelis Stamatis as a manager. Because of its popularity Atromitos was included in the Greek football league in 1924. At this time the club played in particular the sports complex Panellinios Athens. In his first season the club was promptly third party and in 1928 was the Athens City Championship titles are won. The association is itself qualified first for the highest Greek league. 1932 joined Atromitos Peristeri in the city since it would not have been possible in the immediate vicinity of Panathinaikos Athens, to build their own fan base.

Until 1972 the club played then in the second division, before he ascended back into the premier league under coach Savva Papazoulou. This, however, was too heavy and it was followed by the direct re- descent. 1975 Atromitos rose again, and this time managed to ninth place in the table. Despite some good signings the club in 1981 again dismounted in lower leagues and played for many years even in the third division. It was only in May 2002 managed to the promotion back to the second division. In 2005, the club has merged with FC Chalkidona and has performed since then in the Super League. 2006/ 07 we completed the season off with a solid 8th place in the table. Both in 2012 and 2013 could qualify as a table for the fourth European Cup.

2011 came to the club the cup final, but was defeated local rivals AEK Athens 0-3. The game was accompanied by riots.
