Aubagne

Aubagne is a commune with 45,800 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Bouches -du -Rhône in the Provence- Alpes- Côte d' Azur.

Geography

Aubagne is located between Aix -en- Provence ( north ), Toulon ( east ) and Marseille ( west ). The city is crossed by the river Huveaune, open out several tributaries in here.

Transport

Since 2009 there is the preparation for the construction of a tram that will then be used free of charge. The first line segment is scheduled to open in 2014 and in stages to 2019 adding more sections. The expansion plan is nachlesbar under the link of the urban region Aubagne.

Aubagne is the hometown of the writer Marcel Pagnol, who worked as a dramaturg and director. Many of his stories are set in the landscapes of the environment, for example in Garlaban massif. Another famous son of the city 's Alain Bernard, who was born in 1983 in Aubagne. The record swimmer won, among others at the 2008 European Championships in Eindhoven two gold medals at the Summer Olympics and 2008 Beijing gold, silver and bronze in various disciplines.
