Austin Peralta

Austin Peralta ( born October 25, 1990 in Los Angeles, † November 21, 2012 ) was an American jazz pianist and composer.

Life and work

Peralta, son of professional skateboarder and filmmaker Stacy Peralta, has already received six years of piano lessons; later he studied with Alan Pasqua and Buddy Collette. Age of 13, he won the Shelly Manne New Talent Award from the Los Angeles Jazz Society. At fifteen he entered on the Tokyo Jazz Festival with his trio. Between 2006 and 2011 Peralta published three albums, Maiden Voyage ( with Ron Carter ), Mantra ( with Buster Williams, Steve Nelson and Marcus Strickland ) and Endless Planets ( this album contained all original material ). Peralta also worked with Tim Ries The Rolling Stones Project, Vol 2, and lastly as a keyboardist in the recordings of the Flying Lotus album Until The Quiet Comes. He also played with Chick Corea, Hank Jones, Sadao Watanabe, John Patitucci, Omar Hakim, Hiromi Uehara, Erykah Badu and Allan Holdsworth. He died at the age of 22 years. The most likely cause of death was viral pneumonia is given with concurrent use of alcohol, morphine and sedatives.
