The parliamentary election in Australia in 1996 was held on 2 March 1996. It was the election of the 38th Australian Parliament. Of the two chambers of parliament, the House of Representatives (lower house ) was completely and partially re-elected to the Senate (upper house).

Election winner was the opposition Liberal Party, which henceforth could govern with an absolute majority. Lost the election with great loss of votes was the ruling Labor Party.
