The parliamentary election in Australia in 1998 was held on 3 October 1998. It was the election for the 39th Australian Parliament. Of the two chambers of parliament, the House of Representatives (lower house ) was completely and partially re-elected to the Senate (upper house).

Although the ruling coalition of the Liberal Party and National Party suffered heavy losses at the polls, they could still continue to govern with an absolute majority. The right-wing populist One Nation Party, which contested the first national parliamentary elections, reached from the state 8 to 9 percent of the vote.
