Costs & Fees

The fee increase was in 2010 by 14.3% to 68.91 euros caused massive criticism from the AEA and IATA, and the Austrian Airlines NIKI and AUA, which saw a significant competitive disadvantage.

(2010)

(2009-2010)

Austro Control has to fund to cover costs of air navigation service charges. Data are collected en route charges of the recovery by the Euro Control for participating in the Euro Control system of fees Member States. However, have extremely high cost - with average incomes of around 100,000 euros mainly in the area of personnel - a major point of criticism dar.

Austro Control has the fee for 2011 stated they kept stable ( slight increase to 69.38 euros ).

Debate about the rescue helicopter

Beginning of 2010 saw the inkraftgetretene regulation of the Ministry of Transport ( AOCV 2008) for discussions, whereby only those helicopters may be used for the ambulance and rescue flights that meet the requirements of this Regulation ( air ambulance in Austria: Safety standards since 2010). Were affected five helicopters of the Salzburg entrepreneur Roy Knaus. The criticism concerned the new security regulations and their interpretation. Therefore, a display on suspicion of abuse of office and corruption against unknown perpetrators in the circle of Austro Control Society to the prosecutor Salzburg was incorporated on January 18, 2010, which was designated by Austro Control as " insubstantial ".

To make matters worse, one of the responsible for the Knaus Helicopter inspectors Austro Control said to have been working for the rival company SHS by the way, what was denied by Austro Control. However, in principle, the principle is that flight operations oversight activities and ancillary activities are strictly separated.

The prosecutor has made it clear after examining the case, that Austro Control has acted correctly in connection with the implementation of the Regulation AOCV 2008 ( " The decisions conform to international standards. " ), The investigation was therefore set. Even before the setting of the investigation by the prosecutor, the Constitutional Court had rejected a complaint brought in in terms of authorization of individual rescue helicopter types from formal legal reasons. It was also confirmed the approach of Austro Control in the Ministry of Transport by the decision of the Supreme Civil Aviation Authority.

Thus, since 1 January 2010, those helicopters were used in the ambulance and rescue flight in Austria only, which corresponded with the requirements of this Regulation. This Regulation was again repealed in October 2011 by the Constitutional Court, since the regulation was not in accordance with the EU. This Regulation should therefore be amended to March 2012.

Austro Control in the EU

The Single European Sky initiative of the European Commission provides a unification of European airspace. The aim is to create a common European airspace regardless of national borders, which is based solely on operational requirements, thus contributing to a safe, efficient and economical flow of air traffic. Main goal is the formation of five to ten cross-border airspace blocks (Functional Airspace Blocks). Austro Control is here involved in the formation of a central European airspace block ( FAB CE - Functional Airspaceblock Central Europe).

Together with the Czech Republic, Hungary, Slovakia, Slovenia, Croatia and Bosnia - Herzegovina, this block was established in late 2012 in Europe.
