The Autostrada A19 (Italian for, A19 ') is an Italian highway in Sicily, which leads from Palermo to Catania. It is 191.6 km long and completely toll-free. The first section of the motorway between Palermo and Buonfornello was opened in 1970, the rest of the distance between Buonfornello and Catania in 1975 and opened to traffic. This stretch is also classified under European Routes E90 and E932. Manages the highway from the ANAS.

The highway has connection to the A20 (Palermo - Messina) and A18 (Messina - Catania). In addition, the A19 has a branch line, which is called A19 you.

Particularity

The connection point Enna and Caltanissetta are executed on the basis of geographical condition as viaduct. This is considered the longest in Sicily.

Toll

So far, the A19 along the entire route was toll-free. However, is planned for 2011 introduction of a toll on most tributaries, as well as all the ANAS below highway routes.

The Decree-Law 31 maggio 2010 n 78th sees the launch of the new toll system, prior to December 2011 at the latest. According to the accompanying technical report, an electronic payment system will be used instead of the traditional toll booths. On 1 July 2010, the toll at the toll booth Buonfornello (A20 ) was provisionally increased.
