Avajan

Avajan is a commune with 70 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Hautes -Pyrénées in the Midi-Pyrénées region. It belongs administratively to the district Bagneres- de -Bigorre and Canton Bordères -Louron.

Geography

The municipality is located in the historical county of Bigorre, in the Pays d' Aure. Neighboring municipalities are:

  • Bordères -Louron in the north,
  • Cazaux- Fréchet - Anéran Camors in the southwest,
  • Vielle -Louron in the southwest, as well as
  • Gouaux in the West.

The location of the community is the main town on the left flank of the Vallée du Louron above the valley, across the river Neste you Louron, which runs along the valley floor through Bordères -Louron. The majority of its territory is mostly impassable mountains and forest at altitudes up to 1,600 meters dar. Since this is hardly settled, resulting in a total very low population density.
