Estensan

Estensan is a commune with 39 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Hautes -Pyrénées in the Midi-Pyrénées region. It belongs administratively to the district Bagneres- de -Bigorre and the canton of Vielle -Aure.

Geography

The municipality is located in the historical county of Bigorre, in the Pays d' Aure.

The municipal seat is located in about 900 m on the left edge of the Aure valley through which the river Neste d' Aure runs. The village is located about 40 km southeast of Lourdes. The municipality has an extremely low population density.

Demographics

The development of the population is known by censuses conducted since 1962. In the 21st century will be carried out in municipalities with fewer than 10,000 inhabitants Census every five years, in major cities every year.

Management

From March 1959 to November 1997 was Gaston Anglade mayor ( maire ). Since then, Louis Ricard is in office.
