Pouzac

Pouzac is a commune with 1113 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011 ) in the department of Hautes -Pyrénées in the Midi-Pyrénées region. It belongs administratively to the district Bagneres- de -Bigorre and Bagneres -de- Bigorre Canton.

Geography

The municipality is located in the historical county of Bigorre, in the valley of the River Adour, about 17 kilometers southeast of Tarbes and three kilometers north- west of the administrative capital of Bagneres -de- Bigorre. Neighboring communities of Pouzac are:

  • Ordizan in the Northeast,
  • Hauban in the east,
  • Bagneres -de- Bigorre in the south,
  • Labassère in the southwest and
  • Trébons in the northwest.

Through the Adour valley run all other major transport connections, such as the Department roads D935 and D8, and the railway line from Tarbes to Bagneres -de- Bigorre.

Hydrographic

The municipality is crossed by the Adour, while in place Pouzac itself, the streams Gailleste and Anou open into one another and later reach the Adour. On the eastern boundary of the municipality stems from the River Arrêt - Darré which opens first in the Arros, who in turn but also tends towards the Adour.
