Avenida Presidente Masaryk

The Avenida Presidente Masaryk is the most important street in the Colonia Polanco in Mexico City.

History

The avenue is named after the first Czechoslovak president, Tomáš Garrigue Masaryk. The importance of this road goes back to the time when many immigrants settled here, including many Spanish, Lebanese and Jewish traders. With time came a vigorous urban development and the whole look of the area has since completely changed. The reputation of the avenue, however, is grown with their wealth.

The Avenue is regarded as the most expensive shopping street in Latin America, similar to Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills or Fifth Avenue in New York City, USA. Several renowned shops of Dior to Gucci are here, as well as several restaurants and fine hotels like Habita. In its vicinity is the PwC office building ( PricewaterhouseCoopers ) is located.
