Bačka Palanka

Bačka Palanka ( Serbian / Croatian: Bačka Palanka, Serbian Cyrillic: Бачка Паланка; Slovak: Bácska Palanka; Hungarian: Bácspalánka; German: Plank Castle; Turkish: Küçük Hisar ), is a municipality and a town or village in Serbia, in the southern Backa in the autonomous province of Vojvodina is.

The city is connected by a 740 m long bridge over the Danube with the Croatian town of Ilok.

Geographical Location

The city is situated on the left bank of the Danube, about 45 km upstream from Novi Sad. The municipality includes the towns of Obrovac, Karađorđevo ( stud ), Tovariševo, Mladenovo, Čelarevo, Gajdobra, Nova Gajdobra, Silbaš, Parage, Despotovo and Pivnice and two villages in Srem ( Neštin and Vizić ). In the north of the parish, near Despotovo the Small Backa Canal runs.

In the municipality (according to the 2002 census ), 60 966 people, of which 29 449 in the town of Backa Palanka.

Attractions

From 1783 to 1787 the Serbian Orthodox Church was built on the birth of St. John the Baptist in the city center. In parallel, from 1782 to 1784, the Roman Catholic Church, primarily for the German population, built, the temporary monastery was also connected.

To the south of the city center is located on the banks of the Danube, the leisure center Tikvare with pool and various sports facilities.
