Bauke Roolvink

Bauke Roolvink ( born January 31, 1912 in Wijtgaart, Leeuwarderadeel, province of Friesland, † November 25, 1979 in Baarn, Utrecht ) was a Dutch trade union official and politician of the Anti- Revolutionaire Partij (ARP ), which among other things, Secretary of State, Member of the Second chamber of the States General and ministers.

Life

Workers, union officials and local politicians

After visiting the Protestant primary school in Wirdum Roolvink completed an apprenticeship as a blacksmith at the vocational school in Leeuwarden. Following, he worked from 1928 to 1929 on the Leeuwardener shipyard and then for half a year in the local structure workshop, before 1929-1946 machinist in the Royal Chimney Factory EM Jaarsma NV was in Hilversum.

After the end of World War II Roolvink was, who was joined in 1935 as a member of the ARP, full-time board member of the Christian Metalworkers' Federation ( Christelijke Metaalbewerkers Bond, CMB) in the district of Amsterdam. A few years later he began his political career in local politics when he was elected for the ARP in September 1949 as a member of the municipal council of Hilversum and this served until June 1959.

In May 1950, he was Vice Chairman of the CMB and was as such from May 1950 to December 1952 and to the Executive Board at. Subsequently, he was between December 1952 and June 1959 Secretary of the Christian National Trade Union Confederation ( Christelijk Nationaal Vakverbond, CNV) and visited during this period prices of Management School of CNV.

State Secretary, Deputy Minister

In June 1959 Roolvink of Prime Minister Jan de Quay to the Secretary of State in the Ministry of Social Affairs and was appointed Public Health in the Cabinet and supported during his term of office lasting until July 1963 the then Minister Charles van Rooy, Victor Marijnen and Gerard Veldkamp.

In July 1963 he was a leading candidate of the ARP as a member of the Second Chamber of the States General and belonged first of these to April 1967. On July 27, 1963, he was appointed Knight of the Order of the Netherlands Lion.

During his membership of Parliament he was between July 1964 and April 1965, first vice-chairman, then until February 1967 Chairman of the Group of ARP in the Second Chamber, then between February and April 1967 again Deputy Group Chairman. In addition, he was 1965-1966 advisory member of the Central Committee of the ARP.

Roolvink was appointed on 5 April 1967 by Prime Minister Piet de Jong Minister for Social Affairs and Public Health in the Cabinet and was this until the end of de Jong's term of office on 6 July 1971.

In the parliamentary elections in May 1971, he was re-elected as a member of the Second Chamber of the States General, and was one of these now to June 1977.

For his long-standing political services he was also appointed Commander of the Order of Orange -Nassau on 17 July 1971.
