Beatrix

Beatrix is a female first name.

Origin and Meaning of the Name

The name " Beatrix " was early associated with the Latin word beatus; so that one could translate the name as "the Blessed Mach end ". In fact, Beatrix has nothing to do with beatus, is a variation of the name Viatrix. This is the feminine form of viator, "wanderer, pilgrim ."

In addition to the Occitan modification Beatrice Beate is a possible short form of Beatrix.
