Beichlingen

Beichlingen is a municipality in the district Sömmerda in Thuringia. It belongs to the administrative community Kölleda, which has its headquarters in the city Kölleda. The neighboring Altenbeichlingen is a district of Beichlingen.

Geography

Beichlingen located 5 km north of Kölleda in the Thuringian basin at the southern edge of the decorations. For the eastern part of the district of the wooded mountain belongs Kuenzel ( 380.1 m above sea level. NN ).

History

The village was first mentioned in 1014. The eponymous Counts of Beichlingen had here on the lying above the village of Castle Beichlingen its headquarters, later the Earl of Werther - Beichlingen.

Beichlingen was affected by witch hunts in the years 1618-1690. A woman and two men got into witch trials.

In April 1945, the site was occupied by U.S. troops. In early July, these were replaced by the Red Army. This took lodgings in the manor belonging Oberweimarischen yard ( " the sheep " ), which was then called " Russenhof " or " Red Farm ".

In GDR times, a children's summer camp was operated in place.
