The University of Aeronautics and Astronautics Beijing ( eng. Beijing University of Aeronautics & Astronautics ), abbreviated sometimes called Beihang University, is a university in Beijing's Haidian District. It was founded in 1952 and has a wide range of degree programs in the fields of science, technology, law, economics, management, philosophy, foreign languages ​​and education. History

The University of Aeronautics and Astronautics Beijing was founded on 25 October 1952 as the Beijing Institute of Aeronautics. The foundation of this institution were the departments of aeronautical engineering from eight different universities. The institute was in the west of Beijing, in the Haidian District, located where a 60,000 -square-foot building was constructed. At the beginning there were only two departments: Engineering and Aeronautics and Astronautics. In May 1988, the name was changed to University of Aeronautics and Astronautics Beijing. The university was considered and promoted in several five-year plans of the People's Republic of China.

Olympic Games 2008

During the 2008 Summer Olympic Games at the University of Aerospace Beijing have been held competitions in weightlifting in the gym renovated in 2007. Likewise, the weight lifting was taking place at the Summer Paralympics 2008. The hall has 3400 seats, which were completed during the Olympic Games 2600 temporary seats.
