Blatno (Louny District)

Blatno, formerly Blatno u Jesenice, ( German Pladen ), is a village in the Czech Republic. It is located 24 km west of Rakovníka in Rakonitzer Bergland and belongs to Okres Louny.

Geography

Blatno is located in the rolling hills of Rakonitzer mountain country. To the north of the district Malměřice runs the European Route 48 / State Road 6 between Nové Strašecí and Bochov. In Blatno the Railroads Plzeň- Žatec Obrnice and Rakovníka - Bečov cross. East of the village is the large pond Blatno, the fishpond in the southeast irrigation purposes, as well as the Velečínský.

Neighboring towns are Malměřice in the north, Stebno in the northeast, Krty in the east, and Velečín Pastuchovice in the south, Tis u Blatna in the west and Ležky in the northwest.

History

Blatno was first documented in 1253, when Agnes of Bohemia founded the site along with Tis u Blatna and Balková the Cross with the Red Star. In Blatno a monastery, were founded from which the villages Pastuchovice, Velečín, Ostrovec, Zdar and Krty arose. About the Monastery of the latest news from the year 1406 and during the Hussite wars come it was destroyed.

1420 Emperor Sigismund Blatno and Tis for faithful service to his attendant, and Mr. Rabštejn on Jan Caltov from Kamenná Hora. In the 16th and 17th centuries were several changes of ownership and Blatno belonged to the families of Guttenstein, silt, swan mountain, Kolowrat of Liebstein and Chotková of Chotkow. After the Battle of White Mountain Jiří Chotková lost his possessions and Ferdinand I sold 1622 Blatno to Hermann Czernin of Chudenitz, who slammed the location of the rule Petersburg.

On Mlýnský vrch ( Battle Mountain ) took place on April 26, 1680 fighting between insurgent subjects and imperial troops, which fell 50 rebels and another 50 were injured.

Until the abolition of patrimonial regimes in 1848 Blatno remained the Czernin of Chudenitz to Petersburg submissive and then became an independent municipality.
