Bob Bailey (ice hockey)

Bob Allan Bailey ( * May 29, 1931 in Kenora, Ontario; † 24 October 2003) was a Canadian professional ice hockey player who in his playing days from 1949 to 1968 among others for the Toronto Maple Leafs, Detroit Red Wings and Chicago Blackhawks in the National Hockey League has played. His older brother, John, was also a professional hockey player.

Career

Bob Bailey began his career as a hockey player in the Canadian Junior Football League Ontario Hockey Association, in which he was active for the Windspor Spitfires and Stratford Kroehlers 1949-1952. After 1951/52, it was towards the end of the season his debut in professional hockey for the Toledo Mercurys from the International Hockey League, he played throughout the following season for the Cleveland Barons in the American Hockey League with which he first Calder Cup won, before he was sold to the Toronto Maple Leafs in the summer of 1953, for which the attacker is his rookie year in the National Hockey League in a total of 53 games eleven scorer points, including two goals scored. During his three years in Toronto, he played in parallel for their farm team in the AHL, the Pittsburgh Hornets, with whom he again won the Calder Cup in the 1954/55 season. The season 1956/57 started the right shooter at the Springfield Indians of the AHL before he for the Detroit Red Wings and Chicago Blackhawks aground until 1958 in the NHL.

From 1958 to 1962 Bailey played in the American Hockey League for the Cleveland Barons, Buffalo Bisons, Quebec Aces and his former club Pittsburgh Hornets. He also ran in the 1961/62 season for the San Francisco Seals of the Western Hockey League, for whom he played in the following year also. From 1962 to 1964, the Canadians stood in the meantime at the Philadelphia Ramblers of the Eastern Hockey League contract. His career ended the former NHL player in the International Hockey League, where he ran aground and 1968 for the Fort Wayne Komets and Dayton Gems. On March 17, 1970, he was inducted into the Dayton Hockey Hall of Fame.
