Bobby Enriquez

Bobby "The Wild Man" Enriquez Roberto Delprado Yulo Enriquez actually, ( born May 20, 1943 in Bacolod City; † August 6, 1996 in Stayton, Oregon, United States) was a Filipino jazz pianist.

Biography

Bobby Enriquez began self-taught to play the piano as a child and joined 1956 to 1958 in a sponsored by Coca -Cola to show. In 1960, he moved to Manila where he played soon with Vestre Roxas and Tony Scott. In 1961 he toured with Tito Puente in Hong Kong; then he moved to Taiwan, where he was from 1961 to 1963 the house pianist at the Officers Club at the U.S. base in Tainan. Between 1964 and 1967 he performed with his own trio in a club officer on Okinawa. In addition, he arranged for a Philippine Revue, which occurred in Las Vegas. From 1968 to 1970 he was musical director for Don Ho in Hawaii. He then moved to Las Vegas, where he appeared with Danny Moore and various vocal groups. In 1973 he went to San Francisco to perform with his trio at the Miyako Hotel. From 1975 until it was revived in Hawaii to work as a soloist and with a quintet in Waikiki. Early 80s was followed by tours across the United States and Europe with Richie Cole's band Alto Madness (1981) and Dizzy Gillespie (1982 /83). In 1982, he appeared in front of President Marcos; then he had with his trio of Rufus Reid and Billy Higgins exposure to the Tokyo Pit Inn. In 1984 he moved to New York to come again after a short return to his homeland because of political difficulties in the Big Apple to perform there until the early 90s. In 1990, he performed with Richie Cole at the Toronto Jazz Festival. Since the 1970s he had a number of albums for the label Evidence, Portrait and GNP Crescendo recorded.
