Bolandoz

Bolandoz is a commune in the French department Doubs in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

Bolandoz Located at 650 meters above sea level, about ten kilometers south of Ornans and 25 km south-southeast of the city of Besançon ( straight line ). The village is located in the Jura, on the southern edge of the plateau of Amancey that stretches between the valleys of Loue and Lison, at the northern foot of the ridge Le Châtelet.

The area of ​​12.21 km ² municipal area includes a portion of the French Jura. The northern part of the area is occupied by plateau of Amancey, the average is at 650 meters and is mainly consisted of meadow land. To the south the plateau gradually rises. The municipal area extends southward on the broad ridge which forms an anticline in geological- tectonic point of view and is oriented towards the west southwest- east-northeast, according to the strike of the Jurassic in this region. The crest includes the heights of Le Châtelet ( with 910 m the highest elevation of Bolandoz ) and Malveau. The ridge of operation is broken by two erosion valleys, including the Val du Bas corn north of Malveau. Both streams trickle but as soon as they step out onto the plateau of Amancey. Otherwise, the entire area has no surface watercourses, because the rainwater seeps into the karst underground.

Neighboring communities of Bolandoz are Amancey, Flagey and Silley - Amancey in the north, Reugney in the east, and Levier Labergement -du- Navois in the south and Déservillers in the West.

History

Since the 13th century Bolandoz formed their own small estates owned by a local aristocratic family and was under the suzerainty of the rule Scey. In the 14th century Jean de Bolandoz exercised a reign of terror over its territory and was author of various attacks and looting in neighboring dominions. After his execution, his estate passed directly to the Counts of Burgundy. Together with the Franche -Comté reached the village with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678 to France. In the years 1893 and 1955 Bolandoz was affected by heavy village fires. Since 1993 Bolandoz is a member of the comprehensive 19 villages municipal association Communauté de communes Amancey - Loue - Lison.

Attractions

The three-nave church Saint -Georges was built in 1723 and has a rich interior, including statues from the 15th and 18th centuries. West of the village stands the Chapel Bonne Aventure with the statue of Our Lady of Aventures from the 15th century. Noteworthy are also various village fountain from the 19th century, in particular the Fontaine Marianne, which was built by the architect Sauterey.

Population

With 356 inhabitants ( 1 January 2011) Bolandoz one of the small communities of the department of Doubs. After the population had decreased significantly in the first half of the 20th century (1881 510 persons were still counted ), only small fluctuations were recorded since the early 1970s.

Economy and infrastructure

Bolandoz was until well into the 20th century a predominantly by agriculture ( crops, livestock ) and embossed by the forestry village. In addition, there are today some of the local small business enterprises. Meanwhile, the village has also changed into a residential community. Many workers are commuters who engage in the larger towns in the vicinity of their work.

The village is located off the major thoroughfares of the secondary road D492 which leads from Ornans by Salins- les- Bains. Further road links exist with Amancey and Reugney.
