Sainte-Anne (Doubs)

Sainte -Anne is a commune in the French department Doubs in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

Sainte -Anne is located at 631 m above sea level, about 22 km southwest of Ornans and 31 km south of the city of Besançon (air line). The village is located in the Jura, on a plateau southwest of the karst spring of Lison and east of Mont Poupet.

The area of ​​6.64 km ² municipal area includes a portion of the French Jura. The central part of the area occupied by the plateau of Sainte -Anne, which is on average 640 m and is mainly consisted of meadow land. The plateau is located on verkarstetem underground and is home to the 117 -meter-deep pit cave Gouffre de la Baume. A terrain ridge, on which 742 m the highest elevation of Sainte -Anne is achieved, forms the western boundary and separates the plateau from the deep valley Bief de Vau. To the east, the plateau drops steeply to the deep erosion valley of the Petit Lison, which flows in an arc to Lison. In the northeast, the plateau runs in a striking, narrow projection from above the basin of Nans -sous -Sainte -Anne. To the southeast, the municipality's area on the Talfurche Petit Lison extends into the Bois de Chalem (705 m).

History

The village of Sainte -Anne was founded in the first half of the 12th century. The area at that time belonged to the monastery Buillon. The abbot left it Hugues de Rans, of the medieval castle of Sainte -Anne was on the strategically well-protected ridge above the valley of the Lison build. In 1237 the castle came under the suzerainty of the lords of Chalon. Mentioned in a document is the village as Sancta Anna for the first time 1152. During the time the spelling on Saint Agne ( 1292 ), Saint Aigne ( 1311 ) and Sante Agne ( 1352) transformed to Sainte Anne ( 1413 ).

In the Thirty Years ' War the castle Sainte -Anne could not be occupied by the troops of Duke Bernhard of Saxe- Weimar. However, it fell in 1674 during the invasion of troops of King Louis XIV and was destroyed along with the borough. Together with the Franche -Comté reached Sainte -Anne with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678 definitively to France. Since 1993, Sainte -Anne is a member of the comprehensive 19 villages municipal association Communauté de communes Amancey - Loue - Lison.

Attractions

The present village church of Sainte -Anne was built in 1689 and replaced the 1674 church destroyed castle. Of the former castle of Sainte -Anne from the 13th century ruins are visible. In the old town numerous farmhouses are preserved in the characteristic style of the Franche -Comté from the 17th to 19th centuries. Built in 1875-1880 Pont du Diable crosses the gorge of the Petit Lison and connects with Crouzet Migette ago.

Population

With 31 inhabitants ( 1 January 2011) Sainte -Anne is one of the smallest municipalities of the department of Doubs. After the population had decreased significantly in the first half of the 20th century (1886 108 persons were still counted ), only relatively small fluctuations were recorded since the early 1980s.

Economy and infrastructure

Sainte- Anne was until well into the 20th century a predominantly coined by agriculture and forestry village. Even today, the inhabitants live on the merits of the activity in the first sector. Outside of the primary sector, there are few jobs in the village. Some employed persons are also commuters who engage in the surrounding larger towns of their work.

The village is located off the major thoroughfares on a secondary road that leads from Dournon by Crouzet Migette.
