Labergement-du-Navois

Labergement -du- Navois is a commune in the French department Doubs in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

Labergement -du- Navois is located on 747 m above sea level, some 22 km west-northwest of the town of Pontarlier (air line). The village is located in the Jura, on a plateau on the northern edge of the plateau of Levier, east of karst source of Lison.

The area of ​​6.74 km ² municipal area includes a portion of the French Jura. The main part of the area is occupied by a gently undulating plateau on the northwestern edge of the plateau of Levier. It is located at about 740 m and is part of meadow land, partly covered by forest. The entire area has no surface watercourses, because the rainwater seeps into the karst underground. In the south of the municipality floor extends into the extensive Grove Forêt de Levier. To the north, the municipality's area covers an elongated ridge that forms an anticline of the Jura in geological- tectonic point of view and is oriented towards the west southwest- east-northeast, according to the strike of the Central Mountains in this region. On the slope of the Fly is 840 m reaches the highest point of Labergement -du- Navois.

Neighboring communities of Labergement -du- Navois are Déservillers and Bolandoz in the north, east and south, and Levier Gevresin and Montmahoux in the West.

Attractions

The village church of Saint- Léonard, which originally dates back to the 15th century, was rebuilt in the 18th century; the bell tower dates from 1839. On the outskirts there is an arboretum.

Population

With 107 inhabitants ( 1 January 2011) Labergement -du- Navois is one of the smallest municipalities of the department of Doubs. After the population had decreased significantly in the first half of the 20th century (1901 191 persons were still counted ), only relatively small fluctuations were recorded since the early 1970s.

Economy and infrastructure

Labergement -du- Navois was until well into the 20th century a predominantly coined by agriculture, especially dairy farming and animal husbandry, as well as by the forestry village. In addition, there are today some of the local small business enterprises. Many workers are also commuters who engage in the larger towns in the vicinity of their work.

The village is located off the major thoroughfares of the secondary road D473 which leads from Besançon Levier. Further road links exist with Montmahoux and Gevresin.
