Boris Selitsky

Boris Sergeyevich Selizki (Russian Борис Сергеевич Селицкий, scientific transliteration Boris Sergeevič Selickij; born September 22, 1938) is a former Soviet weightlifter.

Career

Following the resignation of Rudolf Plukfelder, the multiple world champion and Olympic champion ahead in 1964 fought in the years from 1965 in the Soviet Union, several, almost equivalent athletes to its successor. One of them was for " locomotive" Leningrad launching Boris Selizki. In 1966, he appeared as a fifth of the Soviet middleweight championship for the first time in the public spotlight. In 1967, he was already a Soviet champion light heavyweight, it should remain his only Soviet championship. 1968 was his big year. He was first in Leningrad European champion and then in Mexico City Olympic champion in the light heavyweight division (then to 82.5 kg of body weight). His strong competitors in their own country - Vladimir Belyayev, Gennady Ivanchenko, David Rigert, Grigori Kochniew, Boris Pavlov and Valeri Shari attended in the years that Boris Selizki could win titles any more.
